On the last review of Twisted Metal III, I had to bust out the logo of the press to prove a point. Let’s act like it’s there again, this is another classic that gets dragged through the dirt. Basically, Ready 2 Rumble is to boxing as SSX is to Snowboarding. You got a wild cast of arcade characters ready to duke it out to the knockout. SOMEBODY CALL THE DOCTOR in PSXSLAYER #0010 Ready 2 Rumble Boxing with the FUNKADELIC BOOGIE BRO AFRO THUNDER!
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing PS1 Review – Arcade Chaos, Cartoon Knockouts & 90s Attitude – The Negative Press– Here is what those fat cat video game websites feel about this game, here is the slang banging cuss filled Douche Loder version of those words.
Yes, it is a little dated and a little flawed but this is probably the best 3D Arcade Boxing game out there. I said 3D so don’t get your panties in a bunch and scream Punch-Out at the screen there Nintenerd.
Ready 2 Rumble Story
Yes, this is an arcade boxing game, there isn’t a conventional story, but to rate this game low and say it lacks narrative is just through the eyes of someone not looking for it.
Each boxer is introduced by the man himself. Mike Buffer. If you pay attention to Buffer’s introduction and what each boxer says when they are introduced and what they say when they win, there is depth to each pugilist. So, fuck you and your 4/10.
Now, a little side note that I don’t know where else to put. Afro Thunder is 100% a Midway character. This game was on Dreamcast, N64, and PS1. Now, the reason this is being mentioned. In Dreamcast commercials in the late 90s, Afro Thunder was depicted in a lot of them like he was owned by Sega. I mean this game only came out on Dreamcast 2 months prior to being on PS1. Way to advertise your competitors Sega.

Ready 2 Rumble Gameplay
The nostalgia reigns victorious! So, the game is broken down into two main modes. Arcade and Career.
Arcade plays like how any fighting game does, you pick a boxer and beat everyone’s ass until you are champion.
Career is a little bit more involved, in order to beat career, you have to beat the game as every boxer. In order to do that you must train them by gaining money from prize fights to afford using gym equipment. The timing of the trainings are strict, I recommend just using the steroids. I didn’t feel like doing all that, so I just played arcade as Butcher Brown.
This is a Midway game, if you are unfamiliar with who that is, I hope you hear Techno Syndrome scream off in the distance. Look it up if still confused. Here is a gripe with that, Mortal Kombat 4 sucked, this game plays way smoother for a 3D Fighter. I say that because it feels like a fighting game more than a boxing game.
This is an arcade boxing game, that translates to HYPER UNREALISTIC SPORTS. Each fighter has insane fighting moves and if you can get RUMBLE to light up on the bottom of the screen you go into Aggressor mode. Here is the demystification of the Midway riddle. ITS VERY SIMILAR TO THE GAME BREAKING MORTAL KOMBAT TRILOGY EQUALIZER MECHANIC AGGRESSOR!
Ready 2 Rumble will beat your ass if you let it. Each character has a very cheesy way to beat ass, just find it.
Ready 2 Rumble Gameplay 8/10
Ready 2 Rumble Difficulty
You are going to get your ass beat until you figure out your fighter’s cheesy techniques.
Ready 2 Rumble Difficulty 7/10
Ready 2 Rumble Graphics
Yo. Pay attention to the boxers when they get roughed up. You get to rearrange faces. It is pretty sweet. Also, the boxers have face animations. IDK what that other review is talking about with them being limited to other versions. One noticeable thing is the empty arenas and lack of detail in some areas.
Ready 2 Rumble Graphics 7.5/10
Ready 2 Rumble Controls
Eh, so there is noticeable input lag. Sometimes RUMBLE just doesn’t want to activate. Sometimes that shit not working will get your ass knocked out so be careful.
Ready 2 Rumble Controls 6/10
Ready 2 Rumble Sound
The star power of Michael Buffer and the character’s voice acting do it for me. There is a noticable lack of soundtrack in the fights though, kind of lacking. The Ready 2 Rumble song will get under your skin too.
Ready 2 Rumble Sound 7/10
The AI gave this game a 64%, I give it
