Welcome to the second-best version of Street Fighter II that has ever existed and probably the best version of 3rd Strike out on the market. #0012 on the PS2POCALYPSE, Street Fighter Anniversary Collection.

Unleash the Arcade Nostalgia: Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Review – The Negative Press – This is the link to what the AI thinks about this game, now we can jump into what I think about this game.

If you know anything about me, you know that I have played Street Fighter since I was a kid. I just stated that this is the second-best version of Street Fighter II as in Hyper Street Fighter II. The best Street Fighter II is Street Fighter II’: Special Champion Edition on Sega Genesis. It’s ok to be wrong if you think otherwise.

This game also features Street Fighter III:  3rd Strike, I never knew how much this game actually kicked ass when I first got this game way back in 2004. I just played Hyper Street Fighter II all the time back then. Now I play way more 3rd Strike than II.

There is something super smooth and sweet about these games on this collection. This is one of the best Street Fighter products to ever exist.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Story

In Hyper Street Fighter II the story is simple, BEAT BISON’S ASS. Bison is just some crazy fuck that wants to make an army of highly skilled fighters and if they refuse to join his army he is just gonna absorb their abilities to fight and… his main mission is to control the world? To be honest I never understood what the purpose of Shadowloo is nor their objective, all I know is that Chun Li got fucked up in her apartment by Vega and her bouncy boobs threw his ass out the window in the movie.

In 3rd strike we got the diaper wearing cult headed by Mr. Akira pill, red and blue boy Gill. Once again. I don’t know what the fuck he is trying to actually do besides get his ass kicked by Dudley.

The story changes in both games depending on who you beat the game as. If you beat II as Cammy, you find out Cammy and Bison used to fuck or whatever. Then Delta Red shows up and shes like fuck this dude I got a band of weirdos I hang out with. If you play 3rd Strike as Dudley you find out that he is only there because Gill stole his car and he is just trying to get his car back. HE FIGHTS WITH DIGNITY GUTTER TRASH.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Story 7/10

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Gameplay

How do you play Street Fighter? Thats how you play it here. Pick a fighter, beat ass, mash out super combos, hope they don’t block and try to get the announcer to say Perfect! Without going into specifics, Hyper Street Fighter II is a collection of all the Street Fighter II games in one. On the character selection screen, you pick a game, then you pick a character. Their move list and outfit color is dependent on which Street Fighter II game you pick, their ending is probably also affected, correlating to each game’s ending. I don’t think there is much variation of the versions that effect the endings though. If you want a super combo available, make sure you pick a game that has a super combo in it.

3rd Strike is kinda the same. Except is just one game. The best of the III series. For everyone who has never played 3rd Strike, This is a smooth, furious badass fighting game. You can parry instead of block which allows you to instantly counter and whoop ass. You got 3 options for super combos per character and overall this game is just awesome. Except Gill, that guy sucks.

If you ever wanted all the Street Fighter II games in your hands at once with a nice 3rd Strike cherry on top, this is your game. It’s one of the best Street Fighter games you will ever play.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Gameplay 10/10

Street Fighter Annivesary Collection Difficulty

Depending on how you go about your business, as in who you play as, both games can be a pain in the ass. The final bosses in these games are always assholes. Capcom will always be Capcom, even in a fighting game, always remember that. The learning curve of Street Fighter always comes at the end, and it has nothing to do with skill. Its 40% luck and 40% memorization and 20% character placement. Don’t every try to over extend your abilities because the bosses will always punish you. Despite the bosses, these games are a 10 on difficulty as the games adapt to how you play. Because of the bosses, I will give this game an 8 here because nothing you do in the game changes the cheapfuckery of the bosses.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Difficulty 8/10

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Graphics

This game was not marketed as a fucking upscale of the graphics of old games. There is nothing wrong graphically with II as it is probably the best graphics II will ever have. 3rd Strike is a thing of beauty in all renditions.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Graphics 10/10

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Controls

You will find there is a stark difference between how strict the timing is in II and 3rd Strike, It has nothing to responsiveness, II is always just that strict in timing. If you can hurdle the strictness of II, it is very responsive and fun to play.

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Controls 9/10

Street Fighter Anniversary Collection Sound

Yo, these are two of the best soundtracks in a video game ever between two games, this deserves a 20/10. If you do not like the Street Fighter II OST you do not like video game music, fuck, no, you just don’t like music.
