Street Fighter Collection Review (PS1): Turbo Brilliance, Retro Flaws – The Negative Press– Here is what those fat cat video game websites feel about this game, here is the slang banging cuss filled Douche Loder version of those words.
Now… Uhhh…loading…There…seems… loading….to….be…something…loading…wrong.
Street Fighter Collection Story
Now, the game in itself doesn’t have much of a story because its a collection of games. Instead we have to make an average of the collection of stories presented in Alpha 2 and Super Street Fighter II/Turbo. Street Fighter II doesn’t have an insanely riveting story but it has a lot of random humor to it that probably doesn’t intend to be humorous. Whatever the hell is going on in Alpha 2, who knows. I never beat that game as an “important character”.
I have honestly never thought Street Fighter has a strong story and nor will I try to defend it. It however does prove to have interesting endings as something to watch after you kick a bunch of ass.
Street Fighter Collection Story 7/10

Street Fighter Collection Gameplay
Pick a fighter, break a car, bust barrels, bust barrels. Beat all the other assholes then kick Mike Tyson and Bison’s asses. You win!
I played through Super Street Fighter II as Cammy. First thing I noticed was that this game has super tough inputs. But that is more a control review. Super Street Fighter II is also known as the new challengers. This game is the introduction of Cammy, Dee Jay, T. Hawk and Bruce Fei Lee Long. With all of that being said. This rendition of the game, which I believe is the Arcade version ported over, is pretty solid. I am not the biggest fan of Super, possibly because my experience with it is on Genesis and the best Street Fighter II is Special Champion Edition for Genesis. Suck it!
I played through Super Street Fighter II Turbo as Ken. This is when I started noticing lag in the game, lag that is probably there in all of the games I play. It isn’t a capture card lag but more of a memory leak, and on top of that, the game has lag in and of itself. I was able to make this game work well after turning off all background processes, just weird how things on my computer affected the video latency of a game that wasn’t being played on my computer. But Super Street Fighter II Turbo is the first Street Fighter to have Super Combos!
Now after all that latency adjusting and shit, the game did it again with Alpha 2 Gold and I about lost my god damn mind! I had to move the stream from my secondary screen to my laptop screen to stop it and GOD DAMN THIS GAME HAS HUGE INHERENT LAG.
I started Alpha 2 Gold with Rolento and just couldn’t do it so I restarted as Akuma. This game is sick. I never knew this until this playthrough but this game features a custom combo like V-ISM in Alpha 3. I enjoy this game but man dat lag doe.
Street Fighter Collection Gameplay 8.5/10

Street Fighter Collection Difficulty
Now Super and Turbo are very balanced and fair. Alpha 2 Gold is a wicked pain in the ass. We will discuss more wicked pains in the asshole when we get to the next collection. Based on what I experienced on the next collection… LOL this shit is fair.
Street Fighter Collection Difficulty 7/10

Street Fighter Collection Graphics
We have to excuse some things here as these are ports of early 90s games to the later 90s. The characters look crisp and the backgrounds are amazing. But let me tell ya something brother. This game loads every 5 fucking seconds. Pick a character…loading. Fight menu….loading… next round…loading. Loading…loading.

Street Fighter Collection Controls
So… it is hard for me to say those inputs are fair. They are not. I didn’t figure it out until playing the second collection what this game requires you to do for fireball and dragonpunch to work… mother of god. For a fireball to work you have to hold down long enough to see the character duck, roll to forward and hit punch just before you see the walk frame. FUCK THAT!
Street Fighter Collection Controls 6/10

Street Fighter Collection Sound
