When you have to play every single game in a franchise, you hope the first one is at least decent. Hope was answered in the form of pure chaos and luck with Persona. We all wear masks in PSXSLAYER #0019 Persona,,, metaphorically speaking.
Persona: Revelations Series PS1 Review – The Dark Origins of the Persona Franchise – The Negative Press – Here is what those fat cat video game websites feel about this game, here is the slang banging cuss filled Douche Loder version of those words.
PERSONA HELP ME!
Persona Story
Persona is a game series about kids who can summon demons by making contracts with devils and their lives being affected by what happens in alternate dreamworlds adjacent to their own.
The first game of the Persona series starts with the main characters in school. They are playing a game of Persona and then it becomes real. Their Personas start taking over slowly to show they have powers. Bruce’s butler Alfred gets killed by demons and the game starts. We follow this crazy story about this guy named Guido that looks like a mix of Al Pacino and Bruce Lee who is using the powers of Mary’s alternate universe to destroy the world the original Mary comes from.
Mary is in a deep coma following an accident and her evil dreams are coming to a reality because she is upset that she is not truly alive.
I like that there isn’t that much dialogue in comparison to Persona 2: Innocent Sin but honestly, I think that game has a much wilder story that also makes no sense.
Persona Story 8/10

Persona Gameplay
Persona’s gameplay at the start is much like every other RPG. You fight demons, level up, find weapons and armor… But there is this strange contact option in fights… I wonder what that is about. Well if you want to get new Personas you have to befriend demons by interesting them. If you have a demon already interested in you, you can actually skip fighting with them. It’s pretty neat!
What sets this game series aside from other RPG’s is the persona system. Whattya know, the name of the game is what makes it unique. The other thing is that Persona’s are not represented by elements, they are represented by tarot cards. You can have a Persona that can cast every type of magic. Persona’s dictate your magic abilities and strengths and weaknesses and can be appointed by visiting Igor.
If you want my shortcut, find a Persona that can use the Nuke More attack and run with it.
Now that I have somewhat explained a bit about what a Persona is, let me talk about the map. There are 3 modes of playing this game. In rooms you get a weird hard to navigate isometric view room, dungeons are first person and the world map is over head and you are a little cursor. It’s kinda neat once you get the hang of it.
I actually took the bad ending in this game and I don’t even regret it. These games are long and are worth your own experience, because you can play this game totally different every single time you play it.

Persona Difficulty
Hmm, well. To me I wouldn’t say its THAT hard, but I will give you one piece of advice. You can get hit with a full party one hit kill if you ain’t paying attention throughout the entire game. The hardest fights are the toilets.
Persona Difficulty 7/10

Persona Graphics
Much like the MDK review, here I am going to talk about the presentation, not necessarily the OMG ITS SO LIFELIKEness of the game. This game has a very unique charm. The 3D is kinda fake in this game and I like it like that. I stated this game has terrible PS1 graphics but amazing SNES graphics and let me break that down.
This game feels and looks like a game that was originally going to be released for SNES but due to the sheer length and content it was put on a disc. It uses its limitations to an advantage. It’s beautiful in its presentation.
I really like the dark acid trip backgrounds on the fights too.
Persona Graphics 10/10

Persona Controls
Meh, mostly its ok. Until you find the flaw that if you are moving by strafing you cannot move another direction at the same time in the first person dungeon view. It’s all good until that makes you miss the pathway at the end and you backtrack around for like 5 hours and have to watch terrible youtube playthroughs hoping to see how they got through it.
Persona Controls 7/10

Persona Sound
It’s got a basic yet rocking JRPG soundtrack and the characters yell out PERSONA every now and then. It’s cool.
