This is the first Baldur’s Gate game that I have ever played and I gotta say it was pretty damn good, I wonder if would enjoy the main series as much as I had enjoyed these. #0016 on the PS2POCALYPSE, Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance
Baldur’s Gate: Dark Alliance PS2 – A Classic Action RPG Analyzed – The Negative Press-This is the link to what the AI thinks about this game, now we can jump into what I think about this game.
From one pleasant surprise to another. Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance at face value was not something I thought I would enjoy. I didn’t think i would like Diablo neither. As this game is a great Diablo clone, I was pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable it truly is.
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Story
You pick between either a dwarf, sorceress, or archer. They get attacked by a bunch of theives. You go to a bar, the bartender is like kill some rats. You go kill some rats, meet some more people, kill the theives… kill some more shit. Run around in some really detailed water. Kill more shit.. kill more shit. Kill some bigger boss like shit, level up, kill more shit, kill the big bad guy and the game is over.
The story spans 3 different terrains of contrast, it feels like a breath of fresh air every new chapter.
Yeah I wasn’t really paying attention to the story. Also, Wench boobs.
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Story 6/10
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Gameplay
Have you played Diablo? It’s pretty much Diablo with different skills. You run around and kill shit, complete quests and level up. It is a really simple game. Simple does not mean bad. You hack and slash and put another hole in the ass of everything you come into contact with, except the NPCs of Baldur’s Gate.
The game is broken down into three different chapters. Chapter 1 feels like the longest. Two big warnings before playing this game. Warning 1, enemies do not respawn. You are pretty much capped out at XP from the start because of this. Warning 2, the final dungeon does not fuck around. It is much easier to plan ahead and just run it instead of trying to kill everything.
The shops are located at the start of each dungeon, and you can get recall potions to get you back there. You really don’t have to buy anything as the game will level up accordingly with its drops as you do. You can equip armor to all parts of your body and get fun new weapons. The drops are very generous in this game. Getting over encumbered is pretty easy as there is a ton of shit you will be picking up. If you have to much shit just travel back into town and sell it. Also make sure you have a ton of potions.
I like these types of games so I am giving this a high rating. It is a good game to sit back, drink a beer and bullshit to while playing.
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Gameplay 9/10
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Difficulty
Ok, as mentioned before. This game’s final dungeon decides that you are fucked no matter what. Because of that curve this game goes down a couple notches on difficulty. That is the only really hard part of this game as you can save anywhere in this game.
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Difficulty 8/10
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Graphics
This game came out in 2001 and has better water in it than most games in 2024. I feel like that is all I got to say.
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Graphics 10/10
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Controls
Controls are smooth and responsive as long as you are paying attention to your health and heal accordingly and planning ahead for how long it takes for the heal to work.
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Controls 10/10
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Sound
Some of the NPC’s just got boring voices. The OST is pretty sick for what it is though.
Baldur’s Gate Dark Alliance Sound 7/10
The AI gave this game a 81%, I give it
